Avamys cause glaucoma?

Hi. I am a 23 years old male.  Just recently i get to know that avamys nasal spray (fluticasone furoate)  can cause glaucoma and cataract. I has underlying allergic rhinitis since childhood and currently has been use avamys nasal spray for 1 year. But my condition did not improve much and doctor advice me to use for 3 months again.  However i am a high risk groyp for glaucoma as i am a high myopes around - 7. Should I stop using the nasal spray as it further increase my risk for glaucoma and cataract?  Thank you

I see.  thanks for replying.  but for the past 1 year i am not really compliant to the nasal spray treatment because i always forgot to take it.  So is the past 1 year of my nasal spray considered a risk for cataract and glaucoma?  thanks

Yes but diminished risk due to non-adherence to schedule.

Any steroid used for extended periods of time say 5=6 months can cause cataracts (common) and glaucoma (uncommon unless steroid eye drops). If you can get by without steroids great, otherwise studies have shone that chronic nasal steroids does increase risk of cataracts even in young people.  You need to discuss risk of cataracts vs risk of stopping the spray with the doctor that prescribed it.
