Bump under skin in eye

There has been a white bump with a black dot in the center of it under the skin in my eye.  It has been about the same size for 3 days, but on the 4th day i washed my eye with water and the next morning it swelled up even more.  It also hurts and a portion of my eyelid has turned red and is swollen.

PLEASE, whatever you do,  DO NOT POKE OR SQUEEZE IT. If it was my eye, I'd be seeing my eye doctor and lettning her/him diagnose and treat it. We only get 2 eyes...I lost one of mine to some mishandled surgeries and I will tell you that one eye is better than blind, BUT still not as good as both eyes. The changes in depth and peripheral vision is drastic and takes a minimum of a year for the brain to adjust to. Not trying to scare, just telling you my personal truth.

Sounds like it could be a sty or worse yet some type of infection. You don't want to mess around with anything that could affect your eyes. If you can get in to see the doctor that would be good in case it is an infection. Usually with styes putting a warm compress on it makes it feel better. If the bump is actually swelling up and turning red and if it has any warmth in it it would be best to have it checked out. This happened with my daughter last month. Started out as one bump and got worse very fast. Turned out getting bumps above and below her eyes and started hurting her. It was found out to be Infantigo. A common skin infection in small children. It is usually from Strep. or Staph. Hopefully yours is just a sty and can be treated fairly easily. Good luck.
