Burning

I have had problems with both of my eyes for over a year now.  I have been to several eye doctors and still no relief.
upon waking of the morning my eyes start watering and burning.  I was told by my ophthalmologist to wash my eyes in baby shampoo and put hot compresses on my eyes.  I have been prescribed the following:
Omnaris Nasal Spray 50mg, Fluticasone 50 mcg nasal spray, refresh Ophtahalmic .2%, Tobradex Ointment 3ml, Ciprofloxacin 3.5, .3% GenTeal lubricant eyedrops and Lotemax .5mg using twice a day.  I have taken and I am still using most of these meds as directed.  The ophthalmologist tells me that my tear ducks are blocked and that I have dry eyes.  My quality of life is almost non-existence because I can not hold my eyes open.  I have to keep them closed of day because they burn and hurt almost to the point I can not tolerate it.  At one time he mentioned surgery but then he said that he had to get the outside of the eye well before he could work inside the eye.
I am seventy years old.  I can not read, watch tv, drive or get outside due to the unbearable pain in my eyes and the constant watering and wiping away the water from my face.

can someone please give me some info. and or advise  I also have allergies.

It is true that you can actually be "tearing too much and have dry eyes." What a conundrum. I'm sorry you are having such a difficult time. You might consider seeking a second opinion with a Dry Eye Specialist. There are multiple other treatments for the dry eye, no of which work rapidly (they take months). Restasis, Omega 3's, Autologous serum are just a few. For the blocked tear duct, visit with a occuloplastics specialist.

Sincerely,
Timothy D. McGarity, Medical Doctor, Ophthalmologist

You have not made any mention of the environmental conditions you may have encountered at the onset of these eye conditions. Factors such as relocation, the addition of house plants or pets or roommates. Please discuss and expand on these.
