Can I wear contacts after cataract surgery

I have been a very successful contact wearer (Acuvu, bifocal, soft lens) for 15 years. Always just switched to glasses at night and for reading in low light.

Now I need catact surgery. If I opt for a monofocal implant, will I be able to wear bifocal contacts after surgery ... and just continue with my familiar routine (reading about 5 hours a day)??

Greateful for your advice,

I do wear bifocal contacts (some of the time) post-cataract surgery.  I actually think that they work better when there is less refractive error to correct.  Best wishes for an excellent outcome.

There is no reason you shouldn't be able to wear contacts after cataract surgery. Some of my patients opt for good uncorrected vision at distance and wear reading glasses but when they want to doll up for a big social outing they slip in a reading contact in one eye and use monovision to avoid using reading glasses that evening.

Contacts can also be used to neutralize under/over corrections of the IOL power.
