What is considered high myopia in diopters?

My left eye is -5 diopters and my right eye is currently -9.25 diopters (is has gone from -7 to -9.25 in about 7 months perhaps because of a cataract I may have removed). Is this considered HIGH myopia ?

Less than 3 diopters is mild; 3 to 6 diopters moderate myopia and greater than 6 diopters high myopia.

OK..then..assuming cataracts weren't involved and we have only 'long eye', would -5 or -9 diopters be considered high myopia? What would be considered "high" in this case? Thanks.

No way to tell since you have cataracts. Cataracts create increasing myopia but do not make the eye longer or the corneal more curved. It depends on your refraction prior to the development of the cataracts. Your ophthalmologist can examine your eye, measure the length and tell you.

True high myopia is due to a long eye.
