Cataracts in one eye

I have worse cataracts in one eye while the other one is still my good eye. If I continue to prolong surgery will the cataracts progress faster in my good eye and bad eye since I am living off of one eye vs using both? Or does that not matter?

My IOL is a mono-focus AcrySof IQ at 18.5D.  Interesting how much sharper colors are than with the non-operative eye.

cataract is yellow/brown so like having a tinted lens in the eye. Washes out more of blue end of spectrum than red so sometimes things seem too blue for a while. White is white whereas compared with cataract eye is ually khaki.
I like it already, and kudos to the surgeon and his staff for their expertise making the experience a success.
Yes kudos

A mere two hours has passed after having cataract surgery on my left eye.  Modern medicine is a wonderful thing.

I for one am going to prolong indefinitely any cataract surgery on my right eye as long as I can continue to have good vision. My left eye definitely needs it post-vitrectomy, and my opthalmologist that will be performing the cataract surgery on that eye said the same thing.  I will be using a contact lens for my right eye to hopefully "match" the two for distance correction, and will use reading glasses for close up.  That's what I did when I wore contacts in both eyes and am comfortable doing so.

It doesn't matter, each eyes cataracts grown on its own and is not affected by earlier or later surgery on it's mate.

Thank you Dr. Are the causes of cataracts the same factors that affect the rates at which they progress? I know for some people they progress rapidly vs. slow but this may also change for the same person. What determines the rate of progression?
