Hi,
I have a four year old daughter with what I think is a Chalazion.
It was a small and almost unnoticable lump in her upper eyelid but it seems to have moved down towards her eyelashes. Now the area in the eyelashes are slightly red and she seems to have more eye boogers / rheum on the bottom eyelashes where it comes into contact with the redness.
We first noticed her small lump about three weeks ago and decided to just leave it be and see what happens.
Now it's kinda reddish and like I said, it seems to have moved down a bit.
I took her to an ophthalmologist and this woman immediately wanted to perform surgery... She literally had a nurse hold my screaming daughter in a headlock and was going to stick her with anesthesia and perform this procedure. Now I was not into this so I took her out and said forget it.
I've been doing some reading and they say this isn't really necessary. I don't trust this ophthalmologist because everytime me and my mother go to get a simple check up, she never fails to squeeze the crap out of our eyes saying that there's fatty deposits on the eyelids... and her actions with my daughter was just unacceptable.
I'm in Korea and my experience with Korean doctors is that they always take it to the extreme and perform procedures that aren't 100 percent necessary.
I'm going to see another ophthalmologist tomorrow but I'm hoping this will go away on its own.
Any advice?
