Changing glasses prescription

Supposing I've got the following prescription...

O.D. -4.25 -1.50 x 018
O.S. -4.50 -1.25 x 158

How would I reduce the power of these lenses by approximately 10%? Is it as simple as reducing the sphere powers, or do I also need to adjust the cylinder powers accordingly?

If your eyeglass prescription is not acceptable to you and your optometrist refuses to do anything about it, I would certainly find another optometrist.  There's no reason for you to be miserable.

Have no idea, you'll have to ask him/her. I doubt the optom will be wild about reducing the IOL power without an examination nor would any optical likely fill any changes you made yourself.

Well, I still have the lenses from my old broken glasses frame, but I've lost its prescription. Would my optometrist be able to help me by analyzing those old lenses and figuring out the prescription from there?

Can't help you with that.it's not scientific or proper procedure.

I'd like to reduce the power of my new lenses as my optometrist refuses to do so. There's just too much minification and my previous prescription was just fine.

The headaches might subside, but I can't deal with the minification.

There is no formula for this nor do I see any reason to speculate on what you're up to.
