Child with a lazy eye

Hi,
My 7 year old nephew has a lazy eye. We took him to the opticians and they gave us some glasses that would apparently help, that was a year ago and his eye looks to be getting worse.

My question is, is the optician the right place to be taking him or should we be taking him to the doctors instead?

thx

In my opinion he should be seeing an ophthalmologist Eye MD, and if possible one that specializes in pediatric ophthalmology. Generally your child's pediatrician can arrange for such a consultation

Be sure to have other children in family examined as this often runs in families
