Conjunctivitis

Hi,
My name is Eric Preuss and I leave in Brazil.
2 year ago, my wife and I got a conjunctivitis (viral) and made the same treatment.
we both used some different medicaments, corticorteroids (MAXIDEX, among others).
I have my problem solved, but my wife did not.
While she was using the corticoids, her infiltrates gone away, and she could see well. It was just a matter to stop using them (always made in agradual manner, reducing the use of the corticoids gradually), the infiltrates came back.
That means, with corticoids, she could see, without them, the infiltrates retiurned and she could not see well with one eye (like seen through a frosted glass).
we wnet through many brazilian specialists, and one of the final solutions suggested (after 2 years) mas a cornea transplant.
She made the tarnsplant  on July, 2010, but until now, her vision did not improved.

Have any of you seen a similar case? Any doctor, institute, university you could recomend me?

Thanks for any help on this.

Regards,
Eric Preuss

I'm a little surprised that they did a corneal transplant if the steroids were clearing it up.  If she can't see with the transplant then either there is astigmatism that is irregular or the graft may be hazy or swollen.  You need to make sure she is seeing a very good cornea specialist (I unfortunately don't know who would be good in Brazil, I do know a Dr. Lupinacci who is a glaucoma specialist and is very good but am not sure what city he is in.  You may want to find him and ask who he would recommend).  Good luck.\

Your wife's case sounds similar to my ordeal I had epidemic keroconjunctivitis 15 month ago and my corneas are scarred as well causing me numerous problems with my sight.  I have been to many doctors but all say the same thing that it could take many years but they should eventually fade.  I was very dissapointed but I'm just going to keep hoping tell your wife to hang in there.
