I recently had retinal surgery (vitrectomy) on 11/18/08. The initial plan was to remove a vitreous membrane, and the MD said that during the procedure he discovered a hole in my macula thus requiring the insertion of a "gas bubble". I had never heard of this before. When I spoke with the assisting surgeon re: the bubble, he said it was a gas...CF---, I can't remember the other letters. Does anyone have info. on this gas, it's characteristics, and potential long-term effects??
Thanks!
