Correcting astigmatism does result in sharper image

I've been wearing glasses since year 7, had -2.5D and -1.5D back in the day. That time my vision was checked regurarly (every 2-3 months, then every year) until I was around 9-10. However, later on (age 13-14 and onward) the doctor only increased the dioptres even if I reported a ghosting effect on my vision.

Today I went to have a pair of spectacles prescribed and have seen I have -3.86 and -2.5 D of astigmatism. When increasing the cylinders during subjective exam I did not see significantly better after -3.0 and -1.75 and the ghosting effect persisted.

My question is, could this be amblyopia on both eyes? Or is it just my having improper prescription of cylinders for a long time and my brain just have to "get in shape" again?

hei213  You have asked 65 questions most of them on the same topic. I have exhausted the useful information I can give you. The rest you need to get from your eye MD ophthalmologist. I will be signing off best of luck.

You are right and thank you for your patience. But do you blame me? The reason I fear amblyopia this much is because it is permanent (and medicine is unlikely to develop a cure for it any time soon due to its nature).

EDIT TITLE: sorry, does NOT result.
