Crack on the retina

My 18 year daughter had a crack on her retina about 6 months back & she is under the treatment of a retina specialist. He injected a medication to her eye 3 times already with 6 weeks time intervel between each shot. At the last check up he said, the inflammation & the bleeding is gone, but the damage to her retina is permanent. My question is since she is young, a laser surgery or any other treatment will work for her? Should we do anything sooner?

Sounds like she had a lacquer crack with a resulting CNV and then Avastin injections to stop the bleeding. Depending on several factors, the damage to the retina may or may not be permanent. However I would suggest you get a second opinion as you seem a little in the dark here and it is not obvious from your post exactly what is going on here.

Get a second opinion from a different retima specialist. Find one near you at www.aao.org  If they say the same thing then believe it and concentrate on protecting the good eye from disease and injury.
