Crystalens distance problem

I read the recent post by Dr. Hagan on crystalens HD and have spoken with the Eyeonics people. I had crystalens implanted in left eye on Sept 1 and left eye on Oct. 3. There was a .5 differential with my right dominant eye for distance and the left for close up and intermediate. All of the reports seem to indicate that you can expect distance vision to be vastly improved and you might require reading glasses. My results were exactly the opposite. Close up and intermediate are excellent (can read the telephone book, newspapers, etc. without glasses however I cannot read the smaller print on the T V from 10 to 12 feet away and I cannot see distance any better than before surgery. What happened? Can anything be done to improve the distance vision? Will it improve in time?  Blackwell 69

1. I can't tell if you were over-corrected since I don't know what your surgeon was shooting for nor did you give your post op refractive error.
2. You can use the search feature and learn about the risks of LASIK which are small.

Thank you for your prompt response. Was I overcorrected? Could the myopia have resulted from the surgery? What are the risks for Lasik?  Blackwell 69

I suspect that your IOL power calculations were a little off, and you are now mildly nearsighted in both eyes.  Good distance vision with any IOL requires that the correct power lens be implanted.  Dr. Hagan has provided your likely choices.  His second and third options involve monovision.

Get a second opinion. Your choices will likely include: progressive bifocals for distance vision. Contact lens on one eye for distance. Lasik on one eye for better distance vision.
