Curious power combination

Here is a curious scenario.
I had a cataract remove form my RE and a IOL implanted. My RE far vision is excelente now but I can`t use my glasses because my LE is -3.75. This difference induces an aniseikonia that my brains can`t deal with.
To solve this problem I am trying contact lens on LE.
I thought that, with contact on LE, both eyes would get excelente far vision, but my LE near vision would became as bad as RE vision. I can deal with it, I thought, I don`t mind  using reading glasses.
Well, with contact lens on LE and IOL on RE, my distance vision is, as expected, excelent.
But for my (goog) surprise, my LE near vision became also much better. In fact, for most day-to-day activities I don`t need reading glasses. With CL pn LE I have good vision from as near as 30 cm.
Of course for long time reading or computer work, It is better to use the reading glasses, mainly because of bad RE near vision.
It is like doing monovision without actually doing monovision.

My reading glasses is +1,25 for both eyes.
My LE is  esph -3.75 and cil -2.0@80. Contact lens is esph -3.75 and cil -1,75@80.
With this power LE is excelent at far vision and very good at near vision;
My RE with IOL now is plano (20/20) for far vision, but near vision is bad.

Of couser I am not complaining, I am just curious, What could explain this scenario ? A lucky combination of lens power ?

You left eyes still have accommodation from the natural lens.  The psudeophakic eye does not have any accommodation.

Dr. Ray,

Right !
Now I understand.
In fact I think it explain another behavior of me LE.
If look far away for sometime, and suddenly look near (like TV/remote control), I notice the near vision take a short time to get clear.
I suppose that this is my natural lens accommodating, but as I am 43, it is not accommodating as fast as before. is it correct  ?

Well, it is another fact I should take into account before deciding to have a IOL implanted on my LE. As I need glaucoma drops 2 times a day, for me contacts is very laborious, but at least my LE vision is much better with it.
There are lots of pros and cons of both contact lens and IOL, but for now I will first solve the OCP I am developing on RE.

Once again thank you very much for your explanation, I `ve been learning a lot with you and others doctos here at medhelp.org. You are doing a great job !
