Dialated pupil after cataract surgery

I had cataract surgery 6 days ago.  On day 3 I noticed my vision was becoming blurry.  I am having double vision at times.  Colors are distorted, it is like I am looking through an amber colored glass.  Now my pupil is dialted in the post surgery eye.  Is this normal?

Dr. Hagan, thank you so much for the advice.  I called the surgeon's office back 11 hours ago and asked for the nurse to call me, I'm still waiting!  I also called the Nurse Helpline for our insurance company and they said the same thing as you.  The surgeon's office is 100 miles away and I will be on their doorstep when they open in the morning.  And no, baggyrinkle, I am not in some third world country, I'm in Nebraska!

Follow up varies. Our practice uses one day after surgery, one week after that and 3 weeks later for glasses RX. Pupil is dilated at one week to check retina with cataract off. However we have a profession call center and they always bring in same day any one with complaints of pain, blur, etc. Also if patients have questions they are connected with the techs who ask the MD surgeon and then the patient is called back.

Our receptionists never answer the phone.

Is it just me, but why are there so many people posting about problems a day or two after surgery. Standard procedure requires post op exam the day following and three days later with additional followups. Is this not the case in most instances? To be put off by a receptionist is inexcusable! WTF? are you in some third world country? Demand attention, your eye sight is at stake here!

The "receptionist" is not qualified to give that kind of advice. Nor do you need to be put off. As a minimum as to speak to the surgeon's nurse or technician.  Since your vision is WORSE than it was right after surgery that is concerning as it normally gets BETTER each day. If I were your surgeon our staff would have you come in for a look.

I called the surgeon's office and the receptionist said it was possibly caused by the Cyclogyl drops that I use at night.  She said it was all fine and I did not need to go into the office to be checked before my scheduled appointment on Friday.  Should I do as she said and wait or call back and insist on being seen?  I trust my surgeon completely, but I'm not so sure about the receptionist.  Thank you for your help!
