Static Vision/ Visual Snow

Hi, I'm 18 and I have had Static or Snow- like vision since I can remember. When I was 8 years old I was shocked to find out that no one else saw what I saw. So I drew a picture to show my mom, and she took me to an optometrist or ophthalmologist and they said it was just floaters. Later another doctor accused me of making it up! Now that I've finally found that others have the same problem, and it is definitely not "just floaters", I was wondering if there is anything that can be done. My symptoms include; constant static vision, after images, trails, vibration when looking at some patterns or blinds...etc. I also have had migraines about once a month since I was about 11, with even more frequent headaches about 1-3 a week. Since, I've lived with it my whole life I'm not that determined to spend tons of money expensive tests. I was just wondering if there were possible cures/treatments available that would make the tests and exams worth it. If not, its the way I've lived my whole life so its normal and isn't really bothersome. I can't imagine what it would be like to have this happen over night later in life.
Thanks

Hello,

I was just browsing the internet and came across your post. I have had normal vision my entire life, expect for the last 3 weeks. I have exactly what you are describing. It has been getting progressively worse. Does it fluctuate with you or does it remain the same. I am going to college for a career that cannot tolerate this and I am trying to figure out if I need to reconsider.

I have had extensive blood work, MRI, CT scan and I have some more specific eye test. I will let you know if I figure anything out.

Best of luck,

Thanks,
Brian

Please use the search feature on this page to read the many postings about "Visual snow", you can also read about it at wikipedia.com   There is no treatment for it nor have any of the posters had loss of vision. I must say in a large clinical practice its something my patients almost never complain of.

If feel compelled to do anything see a neuro-ophthalmolgoist Eye MD.
