Do I really need IOL exchange? urgent

Dear Doctor,

Thank you very much for your time and help.

I had my right eye cataract surgery done 5 weeks ago. Doctor implanted monofocal IOL for reading vision. I had hard time to adjust it, dizzy, 2 eyes fighting, right eye look object image size is bigger than left eye( left eye wearing -6.5 contact len without cataract). If look through right eye only, I feel dizzy and I don't want to use right eye to look it anymore.  Doctor let me tried a double len glass:  -2.0 len close to my eye, on top of -2.0 len there is +0.5 len, I feel very good, I asked him what's the +0.5? He said it's for astigmatism. So we decide to do explant IOL surgery to change right eye focal point to distance vision on next Monday. But is this explant really can solve my 2 eye fighting, image size difference and right eye dizzy issue? Do I really need IOL exchange?

Thank you very much for my urgent question.

I believe it is because of the image size, the monocular status.

One way to approach this would be to get the best possible glasses for the right eye in no line bifocal form and on the other eye that so myopic put a shild over it so that you are usuing only your right eye and try that for a few days to see how it works. If you get comfortable that you might consider as mentioned just fixing the more myopic eye with an IOL that isn't so differnet than the one you have now

Hi Dr. Hagan,

Thank you very much for your quick suggestion. I will postpond the surgery.

I have another question: If I use my surgical right eye only to read or see anything, I feel dizzy and my right eye doesn't want to see it anymore. Do you know what's the problem cause this?

Thank you very much for your generous help!

If you are -6.50 in the eye that has not had surgery YOU ARE STILL GOING TO HAVE TROUBLE with the two eyes working together.

This isn't an emergency and you might want to consider postponing the surgery. Getting a second opinion.

In this circumstance you might be better off having the other eye fixed and an IOL power put in to COMPLIMENT the one you already have in your eye.
