I've had double vision since my first surgery..... May 26, 2006 I detest that day!
Adapted is a strong word, no normal person can adapt to such a horrible visual existence..... Have lots of patience with hubby, Take one day at a time, tell him to breath deep and plan his next moves carefully whether driving, working, watching TV etc... I wish you guys the best...
How long have you had the double vision? The doctor told us that my husband had Bendict Syndrome. Any info on that?
So, you dont wear the prism glases or a patch? you have just adapted to the double vision?
Don't let them go into prisms.... No way..... Ask hubby how far apart are the images???? My images are as my apple pic, it's freaky at first but he'll eventually know what's real and what's not, closing an eye as you said in the other forum is nuts, it requires work....... Now from my experience the double vision, or seeing two will cause your hubby to become a little nuts-o he'll be fine but at least support him, at first I'd freak out when I'd see my baby coming out of my baby, and I used to panic at which on coming car was real, all I can say is ONE DAY AT A TIME..... it gets bearable.......
You need to see an ophthalmologist ASAP. Ask your family MD or the neurosurgeon to refer you to one quickly. Patching is not good therapy as it can hamper recovery and cause contraction of the eye muscles.
Many of these cases improve over 3-6 months. Prism glasses are a "crutch" that impedes recovery when used this soon after the stroke; both prisms and any surgery (difficult to fix with surgery) are usually delayed 4-6 moths. If you have trouble connecting find an Eye MD ophthalmologist near you at www.aao.org
