eye pain

vbb
Experiencing eye pain in left eye for week. After calling repeatedly all week and explaining how painful my eye felt, I finally got in to see my dr.yesterday. He asked me what did I expect him to do; told me to go to eye dr. Called and told them my eye was painful, red, and felt like I had a hole in it and someone was pouring hot coals straight into it. I also cannot go outside even with two pairs of sunglasses on because I my eye is so sensitive to the light. They told me to see them on Monday at 4! It seems like no one thinks this is very serious, but my vision is blurry, and my blood pressure was 190/100. I had to tell my family dr. to please take a look. He said no connection to high blood pressure and was not pink eye.  Call my opthamologist. My eye hurts, is painful, and it is a beautiful day, but I have to stay in because I cannot take the light. I hardly can take this screen light to write to you, but I hope you can help me. Monday afternoon seems so far away.

I suggest you call the office where you have the appointment and tell operator that it is an emergency because eye is extremely painful and vision quite blurred.  Then you shoud be able to speak with the doctor on call.  In the meantime you should use artificial tears about every 30 minutes and if  you cannot get an ophthalmologist to speak with you then you should call the emergency room and see them.  You need to be persistant and get to see someone today if possible.

Thank you. Took your advice and was diagnosis with a cluster headache. Put on oxygen and given seizure medication in the ER. Going back in on Monday for a follow-up with a new doctor. I feel so much better in more ways than one.
