EYE INJURY - BLUNT TRAUMA

WDK
Hi

I have just injured my eye after slipping in my back yard around 2 hours ago.
(I slipped and fell over and hit my cheek and bottom area of my eye against a tree branch)

There is no bleeding although the bottom area of my eye is bloodshot.
My eye is quite sore to blink although vision is okay so far.

I am a bit worried about retinal detachment or partial retinal detachment, as a result of the blunt trauma.

Should I go to A&E immediately?
(I was just going to wait till tomorrow to see my optician first thing in the morning for a checkup)

How soon does retinal detachment or partial retinal detachment need to treated?
e.g. a few hours, or days?

Regards

WDK

Thanks very much for your reply.

I've been on the phone to my local A&E department and am going to see an eye specialist first thing in the morning to get checked over.

A RD would be less common than facial fractures (double vision, pushed back eye, numb cheek).  If your vision is not blurred or double and no pain you may be okay.  Symptoms of RD, sudden increase of showers of black floaters, loss peripheral vision and flashes of light. Odds of a RD  very small
