Episcleritis?

For the past couple of days my eyes have felt dry and scratchy and feel irritated when blinking.  I've also noticed that when looking far to the right or left it looks like the surface of my eye is "wrinkling or "bunching" against my outer eyelids. What could this be?

Hi there.  I have the same problem - the whites of my eyes are wrinkling on the sides.  Have you found anything that is helping.  It seems like anything I put in my eyes such as saline drops just make it worse even though my eyes are a bit dry too.  Did your MD prescribe anything to help?

Thanks for your response. Could allergies cause this? I'm concerned as I already have pre-existing problems with my eyes, this just being the most recent development. I'm waiting to see a neuro-opthalmologist middle of October for undiagnosed issues. How urgent do you think this should be looked at? My opthalmologist doesn't seem to think any of my concerns are urgent :(

The tissue which may be wrinkling may be conjunctiva, or a mucous membrane which covers the white part of the eye.  If swollen, this can lead to the sensations you have. I would recommend that you see an eyeMD to obtain an appropriate diagnosis and treatment.
