presbyopia

i have presbyopia , recent eyesight showed improvement in shortsight of  _0.5 in both eyes from _4.00 . The optometrist advised that the strength  for reading has to increase to compensate. My reading lens went up +0.25  from a stable +2.25 to +2.5.  I can presently read close up clearly with my existing glasses. My question is does the reading lens strength required increase as a consequence of improving distance vision ?

No  because you are less myopic the new glasses will give you more magnification even with the same reading add.
