Eye muscles

My eye Dr told me about 6 years ago when she did the eye drops that she noticed a discoloration in the muscles in my eye. She told me she didn't know if it was herditary or something else, but has never metioned it again. When I asked her about it last year she didn't tell me what it could be only that it was not retinal detachment and I would have to spend $70 on a test to see if it has progressed. Has anyone heard of this before? I am going to a different eye Dr this year for a second opinion. I have not had any problems, knock on wood, but can't get it out of my head. If anyone has heard of this or knows anything please let me know I have researched it all over the internet and cannot find a thing.

Dear jennymoo,

You do not mention your age.  Sometimes, there can be an aging change of the white part of the eye which causes a darkish discoloration and this may be located, near the eye muscle insertion of the horizontal eye muscles.  I would recommend that you make an appointment for an eyeMD to determine the diagnosis.

I have no idea what she is talking about regarding discoloration of the eye muscles.  You really can't see the eye muscles unless you surgically pull back the conjunctiva and tenons capsule.  Please get a second opinion.  I suspect she was talking about the retina or optic nerve perhaps.

When I saw the Eye Dr last year she did not mention anything about it. I am 37 by the way. Even when I asked her she didn't give me an answer only that I needed to spend extra money on a special test.
