Gas bubble floating on top of eye?
Is it normal for the gas bubble to be floating on top of eye? I had macular hole, detached retina and cataract surgery a week ago.

The bubble rises upward. If you are standing upright it will be on top of eye, if you stand on your head it will be on bottom of eye. That is why "head positioning" is often needed for RD or macular surgery.

What position do you recommend?
That information should and can only come from your retina surgeon. If you are not sure call his/her office today and ask.
Mine was there for several weeks after retinal surgery/vitrectomy, gradually reducing in size over that time period.

Thank you for your response. It’s very depressing
The gas bubble is a small price to pay for a successful outcome however, have patience with the whole recovery process...it gets better but oftentimes very slowly.
