I am 31 years of age, 13 years ago I had eye surgery (phakic lens implants) reason being my near sightedness (-19) high myopia, astigmatism. The implants were recommended at the time by my opthamologist as I was v young and would benefit me enormously. Although glasses would still be used it was a dream come true. And they did make a huge improvement! However over the last couple years I had to keep changing my glasses prescription as eyesight kept changing.. Early last year I seemed to be suffering from halos and blurred vision along with dry/red eye (mainly my right eye) light sensitivity. My (aqueous humour) liquid function was not draining from the eye and was a build up. I was given drops which didn't seem to work. I went again and my eye pressures where extremely high, 29L 33R I was given drops and informed I was in stage of secondary glaucoma.. Around October last year the dry eye and halos were same and I went back and it was then inflammation of the cornea was detected (right eye) along with some small blisters.. again was given drops and tablets to clear. Went in again for check up 2/3 weeks later and was told it appeared my lens implant (right eye)had some how became loose and appeared to be the cause of the inflammation and causing damage to cells and surgery to remove the lens was advised.. When asked if I wanted just right lens removed as left one had no problems, I asked that both be removed as did not want same to happen in future. I had these lenses removed in February this year. And as warned my right eye was complicated when removing the lens as basically the lens had been circling my eye like a propeller(as described by my opthamologist) my left eye has healed very well, however my right eye isnt. I was told that further surgery may be needed (corneal transplant) currently my vision is constantly blurred where as couple weeks ago I only had that problem morning and evening. My corneal thickness was 889 4 weeks ago then dropped to 879 2 weeks later.. Last week I had my stiches removed and my right eye thickness is about the same but apparently my left eye has now got slight swelling. I don't understand why as I take my eye drops methodically and am very thorough. I would just like a second opinion and hear if anybody else has been through same. Iv been transferred now to another hospital as recommended by opthamologist however still waiting for an appointment. They have made a safe appointment at the same hospital incase I still don't hear back. Thank you for taking the time to read sorry so long... :-)
