Clorox mildew removal solution

My wife and I were cleaning up the walls with a solution which I think is Clorox, water and other  non-mentioned components. A splash fell in my wife's eye today and she rinsed it off for over an hour, however her eye still is a bit painful, it is irritated and it is tearing. Is she going to be blind or going to have any permanent eye damage? We are in a thrid world country and have had bad experiences with the doctors, could you please help us? Thanks.

Sorry for legal reasons I cannot advise you on your eyedrop schedule and because each person/case is somewhat different I cannot tell you how you will heal.

Most of my patients are back to normal and off drops in 5-7 days.

Dr Hagan thank you for the information. My wife feels way better. I have been putting eye drops, 2 eye drops every hour (Trazidex) it has been working very fast. I mean the irritation is gradually disappearing, the swelling is practically gone, Nonetheless I would like to know for how long should we follow the treatment and when will the eye irritation completely disappear?

Clorox is a relatively benign fluid to get in the eye and it is very unlikely given the circumstances that the eye will have any permanent injury.  You have done the right thing by irrigating the eye. You can use warm or cool compresses to the eye and take whatever pain medication she usually takes for headaches.

If you can find good quality artifical tears you can put in hourly till bedtime and then if it makes the eye feel better as often as you wish.

Most of these types of problems are much better within 24 hrs.
