your going to have to do your own research on who in your area specializes in fitting prosthetic contacts, so start calling around and asking dr's offices if they can fit you for an occlusive contact lens. Generally, these lenses are used to treat amblyopia in kids.
Or if you wear glasses you could try the MIN occlusion lens. Here's the address: www.fresnel-prism.com/products/min-occlusion-lens/
I had lazy right eye for 38 years, right eye would go outward (exo) intermittently, at age 38 I wanted to fix it once and for all, mind you before the surgery I always saw single vision, very minor double vision when the right eye went out, The doctor pushed it in towards my nose a little too much, and now it''s stuck there, So as my dominate good left eye sees/aims at something, the bad weak ambylophic right sees/aims to my left.. Tomorrow will be 4 years to the date, I've been patching/ blocking right eye with good ol electrical tape on the inside of right eye lens.... I know most of you have worst problems but even with the bad right eye looking into the blackness of the electrical tape it doesn't "feel" natural and not just my head goes for a dizzy loop, my whole body does..................
I love to know where to find a black contact or something similar, I'm tired of looking like a "cool wanna be pirate" especially when I'm on stage playing my trumpet, people point and miss the music, guess it's uncomfortable.......
I've seen all sorts of doctors, ophthalmologist, and quacks.... ok just kidding on the quacks and some have been very honest, some tell me they see no way to align the eyes, prisms are a nightmare for me, tried many many configurations, even cigna called me to find why I'm seeing so many eye specialist, they capped my eyecare visits!!!!!!!!!! Enough rambling, please point me in the black contact lens department..
Thank you everyone.. Yes even Ray T Oyakawa, :)
Covering bad eye with optics is the best choice, an optometrist can help you in choosing appropriate one.
Double vision can be corrected by an OPTOMETRIST. A contact lens in the right prescription and prism glasses on top. OR opt for the contact lens that is black to black out the crappy vision eye.
GO TO ANOTHER DOCTOR!!!!
Pouring things in your eye WILL BE PAINFUL!
If I were you I'd seek out the care of top notch ophthalmologists either from a neuro-ophthlamologist, a strabismus specialist, or a cosmetic/oculoplastics ophthalmologist. Or if finances allow all three.
Ok, this is not an answer you want, but go see another doctor! You didn't say much about why you needed surgery and what specifically the doctors have done to try and eliminate the problems post-surgery.
Either, try prism glasses to help with the vision fusion issue that you're having, or get a contact lens that will block the vision from the "bad" eye as patching seems to be working for you currently.
I don't recommend pouring bleach or other solution in your eye as that will only cause your cornea to be damaged and it will be extremely painful. The only way to damage your optic nerve by yourself would be to cause some sort of penetrating globe trauma, but this could be very dangerous, because you risk getting an infection that could spread to your "good" eye and also, if done improperly you probably risk brain damage too.
I don't doubt that it's frustrating to experience constant double vision, but there is a way to fix it without resorting to such drastic measures.
It is very hard to cut the optic nerve. It is in the back of they.
