I have a thin red line through the color of my eye

I have a thin red line running through the COLOR of my eye and stops right at the black center. It basically starts and ends in the iris. I noticed this a long time ago, years actually, and it has never bothered or irritated me. I just have NO idea what it is? It wasn't always there... What is this red line? And what caused it?

i have a thick black line that goes through the colored part of my right eye. My eyes are brown and i have had this since i can remember but i really just want to know what it is. sometimes it connects with the center of my eye and other times it gets small and only goes about half way. Could you tell me what it is?

It likely is a iris artery. They are more noticible in blue, grey or green eyes. See an ophthalmologist for a real diagnosis. Likely nothing will need be done. Find one at www.aao.org
