IOP up to 44 after Ahmed implant?

IOP readings started climbing after cataract surgery in mid July.  Docs tried different drops with no luck which led to emergency implant surgery July 26.  After a great IOP reading of 12 the next day,  IOP went up to 21 by the next follow up.  Six weeks later "44"!  Surgeon refers to this as hypertensive phase.  He messages my IOP down to 30 to make sure implant is working and puts beta blocker drops in eye.  Come back from lunch with pressure chef at 34.  Come back in 2 weeks.  Now on blue cap drops 2x/pd, beta blocker 2x/pd, and Latanoprost before bed time.  Worried and not sure how to take this????????

Your glaucoma is obviously in the most difficult 1-2% to treat or you would not have had a Ahmed valve implant put in.  Often if successful this manages the IOP without drops. Now you are on 2 of the 4 types of glaucoma medication available (the other two are carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and Alphagan-P type).  You should be worried. Hopefully your ophthalmologist specializes in glaucoma. Don't know what else I can tell you other than take your medicines and keep your appointments.
