Inflammation of eyelid margin due to MGD

Every since i found out i had MDG, i have searched EVERY forum on the web on how to controll this diease and im stuck with opposing opinions on how to control it. I need someone to tell me from there experience on what i need to do..

My last appointment about 3 months ago with the opthomologist becuase i was getting inflaming eyelid margin. i was told i have MILD MGD and bit of allergy on my right eyelid and left eyelid just mild MGD.. he gave me a sterioid drop tobramycin and dexamethasone only for the right side and he told me i HAVE to do warm compress for for 2-3 mins two times a day.. the steroid drop kind pretty much stopped the inflamed eyelid margin but it DOES NOT GO DOWN NO MATTER WHAT I TRY!! I do warm compress for 5-10 mins at 6pm and at 12AM EVERYDAY!! i massage it while im during the compress. people say they squeeze out the oil and no oil comes out.

Now the real problem is that my left eyelid started to inflamed eyelid margin also, Last month i have not been at my most healthiest stage last month. every since i got the fever and started taking ibuprofen, i think that triggered the inflammation of eyelid margin on left eye.. Does weak immune system makes eyelid inflammation worse?? Should i start lifting weight? also should i try doing cold compress instead of hot this see if the inflammation of upper lid margin goes down? any advise please let me know!! im desperate

I HAVE SO MANY UNANSWERED QUESTIONS AND I DON T KNOW WHAT TO DO!! PLZ ADVISE

If you live in the USA get a second opinion from an Eye MD that specializes in cornea/external disease. Find one at www.geteyesmart.org  When you go in discuss going on oral tetracyclines for 3-6 months. Be absolutely certain you are using one of the foam eyelid cleaners I recommended in my first post.

This all I have to say on the issue.

We do not do your treatment. If he doesn't think its a big deal it likely isn't. Re-read my post, its a chronic problem and often takes weeks to months for the lids to start looking normal.

Im under MD ophthalmologist care and he makes it seem like its not even a big problem.. he just told me to keep up with warm compresses. I still have erythromycin ointment..Is it ok if i use on my left eyelid margin for a week? how long can i  use it?
also i read about expressing glands for mgd.. do you recomend i massage or just only do warm compress for about 5 min?

MGD is a chronic disease (like acne or dandruff or eczema) and one speaks of control rather than cure. Moreover it does not respond quickly and treatment may take several months to get the eyelids looking good. Treatment generally consists of cleaning the eye lids with a foam eyelid cleaner like TheraTears SteriLid or Occusoft at least once daily when yo shower or bathe, warm compresses to the eye lids, an antibiotic ointment to the eyelids at bedtime (bacitracin is an inexpensive antibiotic). If it fails to respond then going to tetracycline (like acne RX) for several months is often helpful.  Be sure you are under the care of an eye MD ophthalmologist and not a non-MD optometrist.
