Iris Color Has Changed

Ok so during the summer i started getting blue/green specks in my iris area, I didn't really think anything about it at first. Then more and more of them appeared and i assumed it was the sun or something. Because my hair, which i thought was black, is actually dark brown..and i started getting light brown, and in some places, blonde streaks in my hair because i had it pulled back most of the time. So yeah i'm never in the sun too much during the day, but this summer i moved to Los Angeles and i'm like always out in the sun now. So anyways, my eyes started getting more and more specks in them and then finally they were both completely blue and a little green ring around the pupil. They've been this way since the end of July. I haven't noticed any change in them from day to day, not getting any lighter or darker. I haven't been out in the sun that much anymore and my hair still has some light brown streaks in it but the blonde is gone.

So yeah I was just wondering..should I be worried? I mean my eyesight is fine. Everyone in my family has either glasses or contacts except for me and also everyone in my family has brown eyes..except for my Grandfather and his mother. They had brown eyes with a blue ring around them. Oh I'm also African American if that helps any, although, I don't know if my great grandmother is mixed with anything or not. Anywho..I appreciate any help you all can give me. Thank you!

Back in 2002, I had a full keratoplasty in my right eye.  Prior to my surgery, both of my eyes were Hazel.  By 2004, I noticed that my tranplant eye had a brown iris.  Several people have mentioned how odd it is for me to have 2 different colored eyes.  I asked my corneal surgeon if the tranplant could have caused the change in eye color and he basically scoffed at the idea.

So, could the surgery have caused my eye issue?

Thanks,

It sounds like you have very nice eyes!  Honestly, I wouldn't put much thought into it.  My eyes are green but sometimes depending on what I wear, people will tell me how blue my eyes look.  Sometimes it depends on the surrounding light and colors because you may have a little green, a little blue, maybe a little haze.  Just be thankful for the nice eyes you have.  Of course, it is probably a good idea to have a complete eye exam if you are really concerned about your eyes - it nothing else, to get checked for glasses and glaucoma.
