Is it possible for horseshoe retinal tear to heal on its own?

Hello.

I have a symptomatic(flashes) horseshoe retinal tear, caused by a blow to the eye.
I have been to two vitreoretinal specialists. Both say its nothing urgent, since it down and not up. One of them says it can and should be treated with laser, another one says laser will not work, we should let it heal on its own, but if it progresses, go to surgery.

Its been 6 months now since injury, so if it didn't heal by now, is there still a chance it will heal in the future?
How long it takes in average to heal, if it heals?
Should i wait or proceed with laser?

Thank you.

As a generalization horseshoe tear due to trauma even if located on the bottom part of the eye needs treated with laser. I would suggest you return to the retina surgeon that recommended treatment or get a third opinion.   "Healing on its own" does not produce the same closure and adherence as treatment with laser or freezing treatment.
