This is going to need a little background context. I am a 28 year old male with myopia. Back around Late August I began to notice that I was getting a large number of floaters, mainly in my left eye at the time, and at least one 'large' one in my right. The ones in my left eye were so distracting that they were literally making my life a torment. After seeing my optometrist, my family doctor, and two ophthalmologists, all of whom concluded that they were benign, but saying that I'd just have to live with them, I eventually found an ophthalmologist who was trained in laser vitreolysis, Dr. Salyani, and he was able to make my left eye a fair bit better, though still not perfect unfortunately. But regardless, the procedure went without complication.
Now, ever since this first started, I've essentially become hyper-aware of my eyes and as such I may just be noticing normal things that my brain just used to tune out, but I'd rather not just assume that only to later come to regret it. But just keep that fact in mind. And also, one of the ways I've been trying to cope with the floaters is to habitually keep my eyes as stationary as I can to keep them out of my field of view. Again, keep that fact in mind for what I'm about to say.
Lately, my eyes have been feeling a mildly to moderately sore, especially when I move them quickly to either side, often accompanied by a brief field of pinpoint flashes, which up until now I've assumed is probably just because they're stiff from not being moved much (which has become something of a vicious cycle if that IS the cause of the pain). But taken in conjunction with the other new 'symptoms' I'm noticing, I'm not so sure anymore, and quite frankly am starting to freak out. I keep getting the nagging feeling that something has changed within my visual field. Like everything in my peripheral vision isn’t quite as clear as it should be, or my eyes are having trouble staying focussed. Whether that’s true or not I don’t know, but I have seen my optometrist and both of them assured me that my intraocular pressure was not high; in fact, if anything they said it’s marginally lower than average, and I passed a flicker test with no red flags.
Also, in bright light, I'm noticing that all throughout my field of view, though more so in my right eye, I'm noticing countless small bright pinpricks/streaks of light that move in seemingly random directions. I’m pretty sure they aren’t flashes, as they aren’t visible in the dark and they are by far the most noticeable in sunlit areas. I’m pretty sure they correspond to where my veins are though. I’ve been noticing them since at least last August. They may just be blue entoptic phenomenon, though it seems way too noticeable for that. But I don’t know.
And really, I just want to know whether any of this sounds serious. Because taken in conjunction, it is seriously freaking me out.
P.S. my visual acuity directly in the centre of my visual field is seemingly unchanged, and staring straight ahead with my hands and arms extended in either direction, I’m still able to see both of my hands, so it definitely isn’t tunnel vision.
