Lazy eye, could somebody help?

Ok well im 16 and since i can remember iv been able to make my eye go lazy, its weird, both of my eyes can go lazy, but what i dont get is normally looking in a mirror they are not lazy, i dont know if normal people can but i can look through one of my eyes only, and by doing so the other eye will drift slightly out, i hate it becuase sometimes people ask if i have lazy eye, and when they do i know im looking through only one of my eyes and i automatically fix it, but convos when im staring at someone talking it might drift out i dont understand, i only get some comments, all i know is before i had contacts/glasses (got them like 3 months ago) my left eye was really bad compare to my right for distance, and now looking from far i tend to use one eye even with contacts (even though both eyes are like 20/20 vision with them) but it doesnt happen often, i want to know what it is and if i can fix it? i asked my eye doctor before and he said something like dont worry about it some peoples eyes dont work together perfectly, but nobody i know can look through one eye only.. and he said sometimes when people get tired the eye will drift away but i hate it!

Muscle surgery (strabismus) is done on the outside of the eye where the muscles attach to the globe (eye ball).

You probably has a significant phoria (when one eye is covered it drifts off alignment).  You should see a strabismus specialist.  If significant, it can be fixed with surgery.

sorry i dont know how to edit, but also if you cover one of my eyes then move the spoon or whatever you can see the eye ever so slightly going back to the middle where it should be
