Limbal Relaxing Incision Without Cataract Surgery

Really two questions:
1) I'm 31 years old and have developed mild/moderate astigmatism in my right eye (-1.00).  I'm 20/25 for distance vision in that eye, but can definitely see the difference, especially at night.  I'm right eye dominant, so the visual picture without my glasses looks kind of hinky to me and can result in eye strain, so I usually wear my glasses at all times.  I had PRK when I was 21 with excellent results (5.00 diopters myopia in each eye to plano all around).  Will a surgeon do an LRI procedure by itself? Since my astigmatism is relatively mild and I don't have any myopia, I'd like to try the less invasive procedure.  My optometrist mentioned the front of my corneas are very flat from the PRK.  Will this affect the LRI?

2) I had -0.50 astigmatism as of 2011, and had it go to -1.00 about 5 months ago. Is this considered stable, or should I wait until it's been -1.00 for a full year?  I'm in the military, and use NVGs/goggles/gas masks, so I'd really like to ditch the glasses as soon as I can.

Thanks very much sir.  Would you recommend waiting a few more months before consulting an eye surgeon?

Thank you for your service. I'm prior USAF.

You would need to see an experienced refractive surgeon and have eye measurements made and discuss your specific situation.  LRI are less predictable after PRK, RK, injury or corneal diseases such a keratoconus.

If decrease of astigmatism might be helpful better options might be more eximer laser surgery or using the new femtosecond laser.

Remember when you get in your early 40's you will need reading glasses and as you age and the focus ability declines that you eventually will be in no line progressive bifocals for best vision. Any residual myopia you have now will be helpful at near after age 40
