odd vision problems

I am a 23 year old male with some vision problems. I have roughly 20/60ish uncorrected vision in my right eye and about 20/100ish vision uncorrected in my left. Obviously it is significantly worse in the right eye. Unfortunately even with contacts or glasses, the right eye will never get any better. I was told when I was younger (about 8 or so years ago) that my optic nerve in the worse eye never full developed and there was nothing I could do about it. He was an optometrist and I've never been to an opthomalagist about it since I don't have insurance anymore. Is there any sort of procedure that could re-attach that nerve if that is the problem? I would honestly take a 50-50 chance of losing total vision in that eye to do an experimental procedure because the eye is basically useless in my vision.

You really, really need to see an ophthalmologist (Eye MD). When the "best" eye is 20/60 in many states you would not qualify for a regular driver's license.

Good eye is 20/60, bad is 20/100. Good corrects to 20/20, bad doesn't correct any.

I believe you typed this wrong as you say your right eye sees 20/60 and your left eye 20/100. Then you say that the right eye will never get better. According to the figures you typed the left eye is weak eye.

Your statement does not explain why whichever is your "best" eye doesn't see 20/20 which is average normal vision.

It is a false economy not to see an Eye Physician (Eye MD or Ophthalmologist) to evaluate your problem. The cost of the exam is often less than what many people pay for designer blue jeans.

You need BOTH eyes evaluated now and yearly.
