Making decision about cataract surgery

Hello,I am Oral and Maxillofacial Pathologist.
My father recently diagnosed with cataract.
He can see "okay" with both eyes but he has blurred vision in his right eye.
The doctor told him that he has small cataract in the other eye (left eye).
As he can see  "okay" with both eyes , is surgery necessary for his right eye with blurred vision? If yes, should the surgery be done immediately?
As I heard about different post-op problems, I am so worry about unnecessary surgery., could you please help me for making decision.
