Myopia after vitrectomy

I had vitrectomy for macular pucker 4 months ago. I am 63. After the surger i was able to read with the eye wchich which was operated on. But then during my eye exam 2 days ago I was told that I need 2 more diopters to correct my shortsightedness. From 2 to 4. That was very surprising and i wonder if anybody else experienced it?
Thank you.

You are probably developing a cataract which will cause a myopic shift. Very common after vitrectomy.

Did you have a macular peel?  Did you have a gas bubble?  I understand that it takes time for your retina to flatten out.  Perhaps that caused the change.  Did your opthamologist offer any explanation?  Is there a difference in image size from one eye to the other?
