New query about eye trauma

Hi Dr. Hagan,

Hope you are doing well. I am happy to inform that since your feedback on my last posts, i have made changes to my lifestyle, sought professional help for ‘dependent behavior’ and working to deal with anxiety better.

There was a question I wanted to ask that I did not get to ask my doctor in person because of a high patient/doctor ratio in my country and my next regular appointment is in 6 months.

Sometimes when I shower, I look up, with my closed eyes looking toward the showerhead -  the shower stream falls directly on my closed eyelids. I just got a new showerhead so the stream was a little thicker this time. A corollary would be looking up in average to above average level rainfall. I felt like I saw spots (maybe my retina was being mechanically stimulates by the falling drops of water, could have also been a symptom of anxiety).

Should I be more careful about this activity? Could it be an activity that could affect the internal structure of the eye or the retina? Is this worrisome eye trauma? It was a normal standard shower.

Just a genuine question that I had. Thanks and regards.

All of this with the given that I’m 24 YO, moderately myopic (-3 and -2), normal retinas, and minor vitreous degeneration in right eye.

Best of luck in your new "you"    There is a bit of abscessing there.  You are not going to hurt your eyes with shower water or walking into a driving rain.  Keep mellowing out.  As we say in the USA "chill".

Thank Dr. hagan, I appreciate your time and clarity of answers. It is invaluable in nature. Request you toclarity on one more issue:

What are the head traumas one should avoid? I have polycarbonate lenses for my glasses with strong frames, so eye trauma is looked out for.  WRT head trauma, I have bumped my head a few times in my life. Last week, I was on a train which gave a strong bump due to mechanical problems, and my body jumped up like a spring and my head hit the surface of the berth above me. There was mild pain in the top of my head, and a mild bruise. Pain subsided the next day. This was all on the top of the head, no contact with the eye.

How do I know which trauma needs evaluation by doctor and which is okay? I need some sort of test - can the vibrations from the top of my head travel to eye and cause damage?
That is not going to be a problem. This is a problem. Direct blow to the eye ball, fist, racquet. Participation in rugged contact sports basketball, football.   Incidental minor trauma like you describe is not going to be a problem.
Thank you very much, Dr. Hagan. Your help is greatly appreciated.
