The other night the vision in my right eye was almost completely occluded. I could see a little to the bottom right. The occlusion was grey and somewhat jagged on the edges. It mostly cleared up within two hours leaving a completely opaque rectangle in the upper left with a the corner that was rounded like an address label. It has been slowly deteriorating since then, it is still opaque but there are cracks running through it. It moves with my eye movement and has mostly been grey/purple, but sometimes it changes color. I can also see it with my eyes closed (even in a dark room) and after it shrunk I also noticed sparkly lights in the occluded area.
I had a CT scan at the hospital, but no blood or cardiac workup. The hospital diagnosed it as a PVD (which I've had in my left eye) and referred me to an eye doctor. The eye doctor says my retinas are fine and my eyes look healthy and decide it was an occular migraine. I have had those, but they were nothing like this.
So, can an occular migraine leave an "after image" that slowly breaks up? In one eye?
