There is no way to answer that question. Most RD's are caused by Posterior Vitreous detachments PVDs and only a tiny number of PVDs lead to RD

Get thee to an ophthalmologist/retinal specialist if you have not already done so and monitor the situation. I had a vitrectomy/ERM procedure for my LE within a month of my own development of symptoms, but granted mine came on suddenly.  My RE also has macular traction but so far no symptoms, and I have it evaluated every six months.

As Mr. Presley mentions - yes get to an opthalmologist as soon as you can if you haven't.  Having been through this twice = I believe that this is probably a "call and get in right now situation".  In my case, once the symptoms started things progressed very quickly.  I have had vitrectomy in both eyes. exactly one year apart to correct detachments/tears.  Its a long recovery with subsequent cataract surgery but if you catch it early with minimal damage you may be able to have an in office procedure rather than more invasive operating room visit.  If you go in and they say just to monitor then that's great.  At least you would have a baseline and established relationship with the Dr. if you don't already.  Best of luck,  Jim
