PCO and glare after cataract surgery

Can glare in dim lighting (mostly occurring while driving at night and only under certain lighting conditions, not from oncoming headlights) be a symptom of posterior capsule opacification after cataract surgery or would the PCO also always cause blurry or cloudy vision? I have glare as described previously and was told I need YAG, but I don't want to do the YAG if it's not guaranteed to fix the glare problem. I also tried eye drops in case it was from dry eye, but that didn't work.

No there are other causes such as cornea disease. Some of these problems are related to the IOL itself and the Yag cap does not eliminate the symptoms. You might want to get a second opinion from a different refractive/cornea/IOL surgeon.   Do you have a so called "premium" IOL such as toric or multifocal or accommodating IOL.  These often cause the problem and are not helped by yag capsulotomy.

No I have monofocal IOLs. I never had any night glare before the cataract surgery and also didn't have it immediately after the cataract surgery. I will probably try glasses for night driving first and if that doesn't work, I'll get a second opinion. Thank you.
Chances are you have some small residual refractive error likely some astigmatism. Glasses should make a careful refraction. Consider anti-reflective coating on them.
Yes I'm going to try some with anti-reflective coating. I basically don't need glasses, except for readers at times, but I'm going to try distance glasses with anti-reflective coating for driving at night to see if they help. I have some astigmatism in my left eye. My prescription is OD -0.50 and OS -0.75 CYL +0.50 AXIS 090. If the glasses don't help, I might try those glaucoma eye drops that people use for glare at night. I'm also wondering if the incision in one of my eyes could be causing the glare, since that surgery was a little more problematic than my other surgery (that surgery was 3 months ago). I think I read in another post that you said that could happen? Thanks again!
I think those glasses will make huge difference in your comfort and clarity for night vision.
