Perfect World and Eye Care

In a perfect world my eye dr  would not  had performed  "procedure(s)" on my right eye... Why? because were not necessary. (At least the first one, the other were just consequence of the first one)
In a perfect world,  me the patient would be able to "diagnostic myself" or had collected enough information  about my multiple health issues OR AT LEAST HAD SEND A QUESTION TO MEDHELP before being chloroformed.
I know, I know. The question  should had being sent before the surgery not after: my bad.I know
So that day when the greatest and latest, expensive and considered premium by the insurance "T5" toric lens for my -5,25 astigmatic Rked eye was recommend  I would have say: "No way". Another mistake I made that day: I forgot Ferengi adquisition rule 48: The bigger the smile, the sharper the knife.-
The problem is not the T5 lens at all -personally I think that torics  are AWESOME, when used to provide potential benefits to patient. The thing is -as I just learned- “the fact -toric iols-  they don't work nearly as well on a scarred RK cornea than a clean pristine cornea”. The last comes from a very sound source. Til this point I understood that toric inside my eye will never correct my astigmatism. As much as I marinate my eye with steroid eye drops, this won't do the so wished  magic. This shocking revelation -toric iols useless for Rked patients-finally explains me why I have the same astigmatism after the surgery than before.
Seriously I still think that there might not such toric inside  my eye just a simple iol.
Well at least the eye still there ready for a nice brand new Mr Magoo glasses.

What are  the point: Many and none

                       a) I might be bitter an writing to MedHelp is giving me consoling  and relief.
                       b) Since I couldn't defend myself on this one. Sharing my story may help someone out there. Only one person helped would "justified" the amount of resources wasted. Again trying to feel better. I am so "human"
                       c) It might be others out there with similar experiences. I have a couple of ideas on how to prevent patients -in a non perfect world- before getting to the "point of not return".

Hopefully you find some value in the story and replied to it
cheers

Normally when you have surgery you get a card that has the model, power, and serial number of the IOL. If you didn't get one ask for a copy.

I was contacted by the manufacturer of my toric lens yesterday. I call them last Friday basically to ask if there is a way to identified an implanted lens. I thought the lens might has a mark or something that with special  light will allow to identified it. Refractions Rx before-after the surgery showed changes in sphere but not cyl??. Basically I just wanted to make sure I got the right lens implanted.
Am I missing the point, I don't think so, please read below
I filled a report and a Safety Analyst is going to review my case. I told the analyst after all the things I being through since the first surgery. I've wished if "something" would had given me the chance to come up with a better decision. As I mentioned before I am Rk patient. It  is uncertain that my astigmatism can be corrected by the toric lens.

I mentioned/suggested  her a mandatory educational video explaining the product during the "engaging" process might help  patients a lot. It is not a driving test but it is better than nothing. I've seen working it for the Lasik people. The anaylst listened me. I grateful for that.
Cheers
