I checked Castle-Connolly and could find no retinal specialists listed in Tucson. They listed the best area hospitals as: Northwest Medical Center, Tucson Medical Center, University Medical Center, and St. Joseph's Hospital. You might contact their ophthalmology departments and inquire about the senior retinal specialists on staff.
Retina Specialist needed for my husband who is a corneal transplant recipient (2 yrs in August)- still hadn't 5 out 16 sutures in place at time of blunt- injury ) who recently (7/9/11) had excellent emergency global repair/ stablization surgery. Per eye trauma surgical team-university based- that partial retinal detachment was visual and outside the globe (approx 7 hours ). Thankfully and carefully, retina was placed back in side; for later reattachment and light can be detected. We have only had privilege to communicatehave and trust MD's who areis in thier fellowship thus far and feel a bit shaky, in regards to the lack of experience expressed with this type of partial retina reattachment (a series of surgical procedures expected). Please advise...Thank you.
for kids, university based retina specialists are usually the most experienced. Search on www.aao.org and then take the list of retina specialists and see which are affiliated with a university/residency program.
