Problem with depth perception

Hello everybody,

So i'll try to describe my situation, I used the TNO test and couldn't see any thing :/ However, when i try the test on this page (http://www.mediacollege.com/3d/depth-perception/test.html) that asks to use the thumb and look to a green point and was able to see both thumbs and both dots. I can also watch 3D movies without any problem. I'm 26 years old now and want to be able to see TNO.

My questions is: Do i have a binocular vision or not? if so can i recover from depth perception problem knowing that i've never had distance measuring problem or any kind of apparent problems.

I have a myopie in my right eye (10/10 on the left, 8/10 on the right) with some astigmatism. I started wearing glasses just recently, would this help to recover?

Thanks.

You might want to discuss this with the ophthalmologist or optometrist that tested your eyes and depth perception.

That is a very weak glasses RX. If that RX corrects you to 20/20 (6/6 metric) then you do not have amblyopia as by definition the vision doesn't improve to normal with glasses.

Thanks sir, yes i'm corrected to 20/20, but still wondering why my depth perception is weak. i dont have strabisme neither.
But i started correcting the refraction at a late age (22y), hopefully this wasn't too late.

No there are no exercises or medications to impart perfect depth perception  You can discuss with your ophthalmologist or optometrist your situation.  Skill and determination can overcome even very poor depth perception as there have been many one eyed Olympians and all star athletes with severe amlyopia in one eye.

Thanks sir, i have a correction only on my right eye (-0.5 moypia, -0.75  10 degree), it seems like a not bad refraction erreur doesn't it?

You do have binocular vision because you see out of both eyes. Binocular vision is not the same thing as depth perception. (DP)    DP requires both eyes to see relatively well, be pointed at the same object and have a visual/brain system that can construct 3-D world and tell small differences in how close two objects are.

The most common causes of poor DP are amblyopia (bad vision in one eye even with glasses) and strabismus (eyes are not straight an pointed at different objects)

I have no experience with the TNO test as we use the Titmus Stereopsis test. They have been compared   http://commons.pacificu.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1013&context=coofac  If you have good vision in both eyes, can see in 3D at 3D movies and stereo viewers I would not worry about it. Some people have trouble with testing techniques.

Hello, Thanks sir for your answer, i think i have an amblyopia instead of strabismus because there is a difference between two eyes acuity, i hope i can recover from this ASAP because i need it for my work to be perfect. Any techniques to recommend to improve my stereosopis vision?
