Question on Cataract and Fuchs

My mom got cataract on her eye 4 months ago.  Her vision is coming back slowly, and its fully not restored.  It gets better everyday after mid-day or so.  Another doctor diagnosed her with FUCHS ENDOTHELICAL DISTROPHY.  But the original Doctor who operated Cataract says its all fine and wait to recover.  What do I do now.  Should I wait or Fuchs Distrophy can make vision worse in future as well?  Please please respond.   DESK really worries us.  Hopefully we dont need to go thru it.

Thanks so much for your response.  But if we dont operate on Fuchs Dystrophy, will it make the vision worse in future.   My mom feels her vision is getting better.   Little worried on this.

Corneal edema (swelling) can result from cataract surgery, especially in the setting of Fuchs' Dystrophy, which is an endothelial disorder.  The endothelium of the cornea pumps out the fluid to keep the cornea clear and thin.  Endothelial cells do not regenerate throughout life, so when there are not enough cells, the cornea will swell and become hazy.  Your mom should try 5% sodium chloride eye drops during the day and ointment at bedtime (Muro-128 from Bausch and Lomb) to pull fluid from the cornea and help to improve her vision.
