after cataract surgery

Does rubbing your eyes after cataract surgery cause any problems?  Allergies cause my eyes to be dry and itch at times and I find myself rubbing my eyes.  Will this cause problems with the new lens in the future?  Are there other things I need to be careful about in the future?

It can cause problems especially if you rub your eye very hard. You can use artificial tears, use warm or cool compresses, use a allergy drop for itch like Zaditor or Always.

Discuss with your surgeon.

A better plan is for all of us to take good care of our eyes all our lives.  Special care for cataract surgery extends more than a week (swimming for example)  The surgeon can give specifics.
