Recovery period

It was July 26th when I had the pars plana vitrectomy on the left eye in which the silicone oil was removed. The procedure was done due to a retinal detachment I had in February and March this year.  With only little discomfort, I went back to work after the surgery week.  However, there were episodes of excruciating pain while I was at work and until now still experiencing it. My doctor indicated the pain is coming from the sutures surrounded on the eye.  What is the real time recovery in healing the sutures?  What recommedation you can provide to expedite the recovery of it?  I am only taking tylenol extra strength for pain reliever.   I never had this experience before on the inital surgery that I had.  Any response you can provide is very much appreciated.

It could take as long as 4-6 weeks depending on the kind of sutures that were removed.  Ask your doctor to recommend an ointment you can put in the eye until it recovers fully for comfort.

Sorry I did not see your post sooner, I had pain from stitches and got  relief from an ointment which is hard but not impossible to get and if you search my name I think I identified it in one of my posts
