Scleral buckling surgery

Hi i was born premature and had to have scleral buckling surgery on my left eye at birth. Unfortunatly it didnt work repair my vision in my left eye. I have been repeatedly getting headaches and severe migraines for a few months now directly behind my left eye. But for the past week it has intensified to the point where i went to the doctor and they diagnosed me with a sever sinus infection. So far the antibiotics havent helped. Is it possible the buckle has broken off and needs to be removed? Or is it simply a sever sinus infection directed at my left eye?

Thank you in advance!

Sorry, can't help you on the cyst problem. You might want to try posting it in the appropriate forum, instead of the eye forum.

Thank you everyone for the quick responces! Ok so i have learned allot recently, i finally went to the emergency room cause i couldnt take the pain anymore. I also asked my mom about the buckle and come to find out they removed it when i was little since it didnt work...so that assumption is ruled out. So we get there and they give me morphine for the pain, then they do a CT scan and find Maxillary sinus mucus retention cyst on both sides of the sinus. Give me a prescription for nasal spray and some vicodin and send me home. It seems as though these cysts are common and non threatning, either way i am going to set up an appointment with an ENT and see what he/she says... anyone have any suggestions or further knowledge of this type of cyst?

Yes, I agree, it is important to see an EyeMD Ophthalmologist.  The buckle is probably the least of your concerns and there are plenty of other possible causes including glaucoma, uveitis and keratitis.

It is pretty rare to experience a broken buckle as they get sewn in for life. However, it may be possible. Another possiblity is infection around the buckle. Go make an appointment w/ your eye doctor if the pain persists. Remember, antibiotics take time to work.
Good Luck.

Have you seen your retinologist since the pain began? I am sorry you have experienced the vision loss, and are having so much pain. I am a retina patient.

The doctor will also answer you.
